Springfield,
Ohio
The offices of Martin, Browne, Hull & Harper, PLL
are located in Springfield, Ohio,
the county seat of Clark County, since the firms genesis
in 1872. Springfield and Clark County are centrally located
between Columbus, Ohio, 25 miles to the east, and Dayton,
Ohio 15 miles to the west. In addition, Cincinnati is located
just 75 miles to the south, making the firm uniquely situated
to provide legal services within a number of major metropolitan
areas. The firm flourished with the substantial industrialization
of Clark County in the late 1800's, propelled by the availability
of water powered turbines and by Springfield's location
at the western terminus of the national road (now known
as Route 40). The firm has continued to provide legal services
to a large number of businesses, public entities, schools
and universities in the west-central Ohio area. Situated
in the midst of prime farm land, the firm also has an active
agricultural law practice.
Springfield also affords a number of unique cultural
opportunities. It is the home of Wittenberg University,
a liberal arts college of approximately 2500 students. Antioch
University is located 8 miles to the south in Yellow Springs,
and Urbana University is located 12 miles to the north in
Urbana, which gives the community a distinctly college atmosphere.
It is also the home of Clark State Community College which,
among other things, operates a major downtown community
auditorium for performing arts, attracting an annual series
of national productions to the area including renowned musicians
and theatrical performances. The community also supports
its own symphony orchestra, civic theater and museum of
art. Members of the firm have been actively involved in
each of these cultural organizations.
